Qaryat Al Ulya Governorate is located in the Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia, specifically within the Al-Summan Plateau. It lies approximately 280 kilometers northwest of Dammam and about 150 kilometers south of the Saudi–Kuwaiti border. The governorate is administratively affiliated with the Emirate of the Eastern Province and oversees around 22 administrative centers, located at varying distances, the nearest about 15 kilometers away, and the farthest around 190 kilometers. The total area under the governorate’s supervision extends approximately 260 kilometers.

Qaryat Al Ulya is distinguished by its fertile soil and abundant groundwater, which lies at shallow depths below the surface. The governorate is home to about 2,000 farms, producing an estimated 250,000 tons of wheat annually.
